Operating under Code de l'Éducation.

PMU is a French private higher-education institution operating under the relevant articles of the Code de l'Éducation. The institution operates “hors contrat” — privately, without state funding — which is the standard legal status for serious private universities in France.

What recognition PMU carries.

Each entry below is the actual recognition the institution holds and what it means in practice.

EAHEA Accreditation.

Paris Metropolitan University has been awarded an “A” Grade in Online Accreditation following a comprehensive Institutional Online Audit conducted in Paris, France by the European Association for Higher Education Advancement (EAHEA).

Through its extensive network of experts, EAHEA grants accreditation to universities and colleges that demonstrate academic excellence, innovation in digital education, and the highest institutional standards. The grade reflects PMU's outstanding performance in the field of distance and online education.

AACSB Membership.

Founded in 1916, AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) is the world's longest-serving and most prestigious accrediting body for business schools. AACSB connects educators, students and business leaders across continents, advancing the quality of business education worldwide.

As an AACSB Business Education Alliance Member, Paris Metropolitan University aligns itself with a network of leading institutions dedicated to shaping the future of business education. Membership does not imply accreditation; it reflects our commitment to quality, continuous improvement and global engagement.

Through our membership we engage in knowledge-sharing with top business schools, gain access to cutting-edge research and educational resources, and participate in initiatives that drive innovation in business education.

SVEB Membership.

Paris Metropolitan University has been officially accepted as a member of SVEB — Schweizerischer Verband für Weiterbildung (Swiss Federation for Adult Learning), the leading national professional association for adult education in Switzerland.

Founded in 1951, SVEB plays a key role in advancing adult learning across Switzerland through policy advocacy, training of adult educators and the eduQua quality framework — Switzerland's recognised certification for adult-education providers. SVEB membership affirms our dedication to programmes that meet the highest standards in adult education.

As a 100% online university, PMU aligns with SVEB's values of accessibility, flexibility and professional learning pathways for adult learners worldwide. Membership opens partnerships, joint initiatives and access to a robust community of educators across Switzerland and Europe.

ACBSP Membership.

Founded in 1988, the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) is a globally recognised accreditation body that promotes excellence in business education at all levels. As a proud ACBSP member, PMU joins a distinguished network of business schools and universities from more than 60 countries.

ACBSP promotes an ongoing process of academic excellence, ensuring PMU remains at the forefront of business-education innovation. The membership supports student outcomes through international recognition, alignment with internationally recognised academic and industry standards, and access to ACBSP events, networking and industry partnerships.

  • Recognised by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)

Degree Apostille.

PMU credentials are eligible for apostille certification under the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961, which provides formal international recognition in 120+ signatory countries.

The apostille is issued by the competent French authority and is attached to the diploma to confirm the authenticity of the signature and seal of the issuing institution. PMU's registrar coordinates the apostille pathway on request — graduates contact the registrar and the institution handles the procedural side end-to-end.

Graduation documents.

On successful completion, each PMU graduate receives a defined set of graduation documents issued under the institutional seal and the registrar's countersignature. Digital copies are made available immediately; printed copies are dispatched on request.

  • Diploma and transcript — issued under the institutional seal, signed by the registrar.
  • Graduation Confirmation Letter — issued by the Head of the Board of Academics, attesting to successful completion of the programme.
  • Reference Letter — on request, the Executive Director provides a formal reference attesting to the graduate's integrity, capabilities and character.

Every PMU credential is verifiable online.

Each PMU diploma carries a unique verification ID. Employers, regulators, and admissions committees worldwide can verify the issued status of a credential in seconds via the institutional verifier.
