Tanja Vainio is a distinguished Finnish executive with over two decades of international leadership experience in the industrial and technology sectors. Currently serving as the Country President of Schneider Electric Switzerland, she oversees the company’s strategic and operational activities within the Swiss market. In this role, she is responsible for driving initiatives in energy management, automation, and sustainability, aligning with Schneider Electric’s global vision.

Prior to joining Schneider Electric in 2022, Tanja dedicated more than 20 years to ABB, holding various senior management positions across Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Sweden, and the USA. Her roles at ABB included serving as Country Manager for multiple countries and as Business Line Managing Director for Automotive Tier 1 in the Robotics and Discrete Automation division.
Tanja’s academic credentials are equally impressive. She earned a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tampere University of Technology in Finland. Furthering her education, she obtained an MBA and a degree in Civil Engineering/Supply Chain Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA.
Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Tanja is an advocate for sustainable development, technological innovation, and gender equality. She actively participates in initiatives promoting diversity and inclusion within the tech industry. Her commitment to these values is reflected in her involvement with organizations such as the Aspen Institute Central Europe and Generation CEO, where she contributes to discussions on digital economy, AI, and cybersecurity.
