Frequently asked questions

About the institution

Is PMU a real university?
Yes. Paris Metropolitan University is a French private higher-education institution registered as a Société par Actions Simplifiée and operating under Code de l'Éducation. We are a candidate institution with the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, and a member of the European Association for Higher Education Advancement.
Where is PMU based?
PMU is registered in Paris, France. Operations are fully digital; the institution maintains administrative offices in Paris and faculty drawn from across Europe and beyond.
Why entirely online?
Because the working professional cannot reasonably leave their work behind for a year. PMU was designed from the start as a fully online institution.

Programmes

How many programmes are offered?
Forty-eight active programmes across seven faculties, ranging from beginner Diplomas to Doctoral programmes.
Which programme should I choose?
If your goal is a credential to switch fields, start with the Diploma tier. If you are deepening within a field, look at Executive Diplomas. If you are preparing for senior leadership, the Master's degrees and Executive MBAs are the right level. If you have something to add to the literature, the Doctoral programmes are for you.
What language is instruction in?
All programmes are taught in English. We do not require formal language certification, but a working knowledge of academic English is expected.

Admissions

How long does admission take?
Decisions are returned within fourteen days of a complete application.
Are there application fees?
No. Applications to PMU are free of charge.
What if I don't have a Bachelor's degree?
Most programmes require a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. The registrar can review applications based on equivalent professional experience for some Executive Diplomas and Diplomas; please contact admissions before applying.

How much do programmes cost?

Studying at PMU

How much time do I need each week?
Plan for eight to ten hours per week as a working baseline. Some programmes are lighter; the Doctoral programmes ask for substantially more during thesis-supervision phases.
Are there live sessions?
Yes. Each module opens with a live cohort seminar. The bulk of the work is asynchronous.
Can I defer?
Admitted candidates may defer once to a subsequent intake within twelve months, at no additional cost.

After graduation

What credential do I receive?
On successful completion, the institution awards the named credential under the institutional seal, countersigned by the registrar.
Is the credential recognised internationally?
Yes. PMU credentials are honoured by employers, regulators and admissions committees worldwide.
Do I retain alumni access?
Yes. Alumni retain access to the institutional network, the journal, the careers practice, and the libraries' shared subscriptions.
